61. Advice to Disciples.
Jesus warned that disciples of the Christ must be willing to renounce any special love
for their family and even their own selves in order
to do the spiritual work for the love of humanity.
As Gandhi and Martin Luther King demonstrated, the action of truth requires
a willingness to give up one's life at any moment for the sake of truth.
Therefore Jesus advised those people who would be disciples
to consider the cost and the sacrifices they may have to make.
One must renounce all possessions and attachments and
expect no reward in order to be free to serve Spirit.
As the Bhagavad-Gita emphasizes, this means
non-attachment to the fruits (rewards) of action (service).
Let those who understand this, practice it.
