19. Jesus Is Thrown Out of Nazareth.
Attending the weekly religious service in his home town Jesus read from the scripture a prophecy he was fulfilling, but the people could not relate the spiritual power of the Christ consciousness to their memories of the boy who had grown up among them. In their confusion they doubted him, and therefore it was not clear to do his work there. People would identify him with his past and his family and not recognize the current spiritual consciousness; therefore it would not really have been good for him to reside there. Jesus recalled how sometimes the ways of God seem arbitrary, but that he must go where he is sent by the Spirit. By the hostile actions of the people of Nazareth it was made abundantly clear that he was not to stay there. He did not resist the negativity and moved on to Capernaum where he resided.
