And they came into Capernaum.
And when they were in the house he questioned them,
"What were you discussing on the way?"
And they were silent;
for they had discussed with each other on the way
who was greater.
And sitting he called the twelve and says to them,
"If anyone wants to be first,
he will be last of all and servant of all."
And taking a child he set him in the middle of them,
and taking him in his arms he said to them,
"And whoever welcomes one of such children in my name,
welcomes me;
and whoever welcomes me,
does not welcome me but the one who sent me."
John said to him, "Teacher,
we saw someone expelling demons in your name,
who does not follow us,
and we forbade him, because he was not following us."
But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him;
for there is no one who will do a powerful deed in my name
and quickly be able to speak evil of me;
for whoever is not against us, is for us.
"For whoever gives you a cup of water in the name,
because you are Christ's,
amen, I tell you that one will not lose one's reward.
And whoever offends one of these small ones believing,
it would be better for one
if one wore a millstone around one's neck
and was thrown into the sea.
"And if your hand offends you, cut it off;
it is better for you to enter deformed into life,
than having hands to go away into hell,
into the inextinguishable fire.
"And if your foot offends you, cut it off;
it is better for you to enter into life lame,
than having two feet to be thrown into hell.
"And if your eye offends you, throw it out;
it is better for you to enter
one-eyed into the sovereignty of God,
than having two eyes to be thrown into hell,
where their worm does not die
and the fire is not extinguished.
"For everyone will be salted with fire.
Salt is fine;
but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will you salt it?
Have salt in yourselves and be at peace with each other."
Mark 9:33-50
And they entered discussing among them
who might be the greatest of them.
And Jesus knowing the discussion of their hearts,
taking a child set him by his side, and said to them,
"Whoever welcomes this child in my name, welcomes me;
and whoever welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me;
for the one who is smallest among you all, this one is great."
And John answering said, "Master,

Luke 9:46-50
In that hour the disciples approached Jesus saying,
"Who then is greater in the sovereignty of heaven?"
And calling a child he set him in the middle of them
and said, "Amen, I tell you,
unless you change and become like children,
you may not enter into the sovereignty of heaven.
Therefore whoever humbles oneself like this child,
the same is greater in the sovereignty of heaven.
"And whoever welcomes one such child in my name,
welcomes me;
but whoever offends one of these small ones believing in me,
it is profitable for one
that a millstone be hung around one's neck
and one be drowned in the depth of the sea.
"Woe to the world from the offenses;
for it is necessary for offenses to come,
but woe to the person through whom the offense comes.
"And if your hand or your foot offends you,
cut it off and throw it away from you;
it is better for you to enter into life deformed or lame,
than having two hands or two feet
to be thrown into the eternal fire.
"And if your eye offends you,
take it out and throw it away from you;
for it is better for you to enter one-eyed into life,
than having two eyes to be thrown into the fire's hell.
"See that you do not look down on one of these small ones;
for I tell you that their angels in heaven
see through everything the face of my Father in heaven.
"If some person has a hundred sheep
and one of them wanders,
will one not leave the ninety-nine on the hills
and go search for the wandering one?
And if one happens to find it, amen, I tell you
that one rejoices over it
more than over the ninety-nine not wandering.
Thus it is not your Father's will in heaven
that one of these small ones should be lost."
Matthew 18:1-14
Jesus said, "The sovereignty is
like a shepherd who had a hundred sheep.
One of them, the largest, went astray.
He left the ninety-nine
and searched for the one until he found it.
After laboring he said to the sheep,
'I love you more than the ninety-nine.'"

"And if your brother sins,
go correct him between you and him alone.
If he listens to you, you gained your brother;
but if he does not listen,
take along with you one or two more,
so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses
every saying may be established;
but if he ignores them, tell the congregation
and if he ignores also the congregation,
let him be as a national and tax collector.
"Amen, I tell you that if two of you agree on the earth
about any action which you may request,
it will come to be for you from my Father in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered in my name,
I am there in the middle of them."

Jesus says to him, "I do not tell you up to seven times,
but up to seventy times seven.
For this reason the sovereignty of heaven is like a king,
who wished to settle accounts with his servants.
As he began the accounting,
one debtor of ten thousand talents was brought to him.
And as he did not have it to pay back,
the Lord commanded him and his wife and children
and everything he had to be sold, and it be paid back.
"So the servant fell on his knees to him saying,
'Be patient with me, and I will pay back everything to you.'
And empathizing with that servant the lord released him,
and forgave him the loan.
"But going out that servant found one of his fellow servants,
who owed him a hundred days' wages,
and grabbing him he choked him
saying, 'Pay back if you owe anything.'
"So falling down his fellow servant begged him
saying, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'
"And he did not want to,
but going away he threw him into prison
until he should pay back the debt.
"So seeing what happened
his fellow servants were deeply grieved,
and coming explained to the lord themselves
everything that happened.
"Then his lord calling him says to him, 'Bad servant,
I forgave you all that debt, since you begged me to;
must not you also have mercy on your fellow servant,
as I had mercy on you?'
"And being angry his lord gave him over to the jailers
until he should pay back all the debt to him.
Thus also my heavenly Father will do to you,
unless you each forgive your brother from your hearts."
