Mark 2:23-28
Matthew 12:1-8
Luke 6:1-5
Mark 3:1-6
Matthew 12:9-14
Luke 6:6-11

And it happened on the Sabbath
as he was passing through the grain fields
that his disciples began to make a path picking the wheat.
And the Pharisees said to him, "Look,
why are they doing what is not permitted on the Sabbath?"

And he says to them, "Did you never read what David did,
when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him?
how he entered into the house of God
in Abiathar's high-priesthood and ate the consecrated bread,
which only the priests are permitted to eat,
and also gave it to those who were with him?"

And he said to them,
"The Sabbath was made because of the human,
and not the human because of the Sabbath;
so the human son is also Lord of the Sabbath."
Mark 2:23-28

In that season Jesus went on the Sabbath
through the grain fields;
and his disciples were hungry,
and began to pick wheat and eat.
But the Pharisees seeing said to him, "Look,
your disciples are doing what is not permitted on a Sabbath."

And he said to them, "Did you not read what David did,
when he was hungry, and those with him?
how he entered into the house of God
and ate the consecrated bread,
which he and those with him were not permitted to eat,
but only the priests?

"Or did you not read in the law
that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple
desecrate the Sabbath and are blameless?
I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
And if you had known what is 'I wish mercy and not sacrifice,'
you would not have condemned the blameless.
For the human son is Lord of the Sabbath."
Matthew 12:1-8

It happened on a Sabbath
as he was passing through grain fields
that his disciples picked and ate the wheat,
rubbing it in their hands.
And some of the Pharisees said, "Why are you doing
what is not permitted on the Sabbath?"

And Jesus answering said to them,
"Did you not read this which David did,
when he was hungry, he and those who were with him?
how he entered into the house of God
and taking the consecrated bread ate it
and gave it to those with him,
which only the priests are permitted to eat?"
And he said to them, "The human son is Lord of the Sabbath."
Luke 6:1-5

And he entered again into a synagogue.
And a person was there who had a withered hand;
and they watched him to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath,
so that they might accuse him.
And he says to the person with the withered hand,
"Stand in the middle."
And he says to them, "Is it permitted on the Sabbath
to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?"

But they were silent.
And looking around at them with anger,
grieved at the hardness of their hearts,
he says to the person, "Hold out your hand."
And he held it out, and his hand was restored.
And going out the Pharisees immediately
consulted with the Herodians against him,
how they might destroy him.
Mark 3:1-6

And moving from there he went into their synagogue.
And look, a person had a withered hand;
and they questioned him saying,
"Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath?"
so that they might accuse him.

And he said to them, "What person is there among you
who has one sheep, and if it falls into a ditch on the Sabbath,
will not seize it and raise it?
By how much, then, does a person differ from a sheep!
So it is permitted to do good on the Sabbath."

Then he says to the person, "Hold out your hand."
And he held it out, and it was restored as healthy as the other.
And going out the Pharisees plotted against him,
how they might destroy him.
Matthew 12:9-14

It happened on a different Sabbath
that he entered the synagogue and taught;
and a person was there, and his right hand was withered;
and the scholars and the Pharisees watched him to see
if he would heal on the Sabbath,
so that they might find something to accuse him of.

But he knew their reasoning,
and said to the man having the withered hand,
"Rise and stand in the middle;" and standing up he did.
And Jesus said to him, "I ask you
if it is permitted on the Sabbath
to do good or do harm, to save life or to destroy?"
And looking around at all of them
he said to him, "Hold out your hand."
And he did, and his hand was restored.
But they were filled with fury,
and discussed with each other what they might do to Jesus.
Luke 6:6-11
