And Jesus and his disciples
went out into the villages of Caesarea Philippi;
and on the way he questioned his disciples,
saying to them, "Who do people say I am?"

And they told him saying, "John the Baptist,
and others Elijah, and others one of the prophets."

And he questioned them, "But who do you say I am?"

Peter answering says to him, "You are the Christ."
And he warned them that no one should tell about him.
Mark 8:27-30

And it happened as he was praying alone
that his disciples were with him,
and he questioned them saying,
"Who do the crowds say I am?"

And answering they said,
"John the Baptist, and others Elijah,
and others that a certain prophet of the ancients rose up."

And he said to them, "But who do you say I am?"

And Peter answering said, "The Christ of God."
And warning them he ordered no one to tell this.
Luke 9:18-21

And Jesus coming into parts of Caesarea Philippi
asked his disciples saying,
"Who do people say the human son is?"

And they said, "Some John the Baptist, and others Elijah,
and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

He says to them, "But who do you say I am?
Simon Peter answering said, "You are the Christ,
the son of the living God."

And Jesus answering said to him,
"Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah,
because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you
but my Father in heaven.

"And I also tell you that you are Peter,
and on this rock I shall build my church,
and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
I shall give you the keys of the sovereignty of heaven,
and whatever you bind on the earth will be bound in heaven,
and whatever you release on the earth
will be released in heaven."
Then he warned the disciples
that they should tell no one that he is the Christ.
Matthew 16:13-20

Jesus said to his disciples,
"Compare me, and tell me who I am like."

Simon Peter said to him, "You are like a just angel."

Matthew said to him, "You are like a wise philosopher."

Thomas said to him, "Master,
my mouth will not be wholly capable
of saying who you are like."

Jesus said, "I am not your master,
since you drank and became drunk
from the fountain which I have distributed."
And taking him he withdrew and said three words to him.

And when Thomas came to his companions,
they asked him, "What did Jesus say to you?"

Thomas said to them, "If I tell you
one of the words he said to me,
you will pick up stones and throw them at me;
and fire will come out of the stones and burn you up."
Thomas 13

And he began to teach them
that the human son must suffer many things,
and be rejected by the elders
and the high priests and the scholars
and be killed and after three days rise up;
and he spoke the word frankly.

And taking him aside Peter began to reprimand him.
But turning and looking at his disciples
he reprimanded Peter and says, "Get behind me, Satan,
for you do not think of God's things but of humans'."

And calling the crowd with his disciples
he said to them, "If anyone intends to come after me,
let one deny oneself and take up one's cross, and follow me.
For whoever intends to save one's life, will lose it;
and whoever will lose one's life
on account of me and the good message, will save it.
For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world
and damage one's soul?
For what could a person give in exchange for one's soul?

"For whoever is ashamed of me and my words
in this adulterous and sinful generation,
the human son will also be ashamed of the same
when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."

And he said to them, "Amen, I tell you
that some who are standing here may not taste death
until they see the sovereignty of God has come with power."
Mark 8:31-9:1

From then on Jesus Christ began to show his disciples
that he must go away into Jerusalem
and suffer many things from the elders
and high priests and scholars
and be killed and on the third day be raised.

And taking him aside Peter began to reprimand him
saying, "God help you, Lord! This shall not be."

But turning he said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan;
you are a temptation to me,
for you do not think of God's things but of humans'."

Then Jesus said to his disciples,
"If anyone intends to come after me,
let one deny oneself and take up one's cross, and follow me.
For whoever intends to save one's life, will lose it;
and whoever loses one's life on account of me, will find it.

"For what will it benefit a person,
if one should gain the whole world,
but should damage one's soul?
Or what will a person give in exchange for one's soul?

"For the human son is about to come
in the glory of his Father with his angels,
and then he will give back to each according to one's actions.
Amen, I tell you
that some who are standing here may not taste death
until they see the human son coming in his sovereignty."
Matthew 16:21-28

He said, "The human son must suffer many things
and be rejected by the elders and high priests and scholars
and be killed and on the third day be raised."

And he said to all, "If anyone intends to come after me,
let one deny oneself and take up one's cross daily,
and follow me.
For whoever intends to save one's life, will lose it;
and whoever loses one's life on account of me, will save it.
For what person is benefited gaining the whole world
but losing or damaging oneself?

"For whoever is ashamed of me and my words,
the human son will be ashamed of the same when he comes
in his and the Father's and the holy angels' glory.
But I tell you truly, there are some standing here
who will not taste death
until they see the sovereignty of God."
Luke 9:22-27

Jesus said, "Whoever knows the All
but fails oneself fails everywhere."
Thomas 67

Jesus said, "The angels and the prophets will come to you,
and they will give you what is yours;
and you too give them what is in your hands,
and say to yourselves,
'On what day will they come and take theirs?'"
Thomas 88
