And he went out again by the sea;
and all the crowd came to him, and he taught them.
And passing by he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus
sitting at the tax office, and he says to him, "Follow me."
And standing up he followed him.

And he happens to be dining in his home,
and many tax collectors and sinners were dining
with Jesus and his disciples;
for there were many, and they followed him.

And the scholars of the Pharisees
seeing that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors
said to his disciples,
"Does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

And Jesus hearing says to them,
"The strong have no need of a physician, but those who are ill;
I did not come to call the just, but sinners."
Mark 2:13-17

And passing by from there Jesus saw a person
sitting at the tax office, called Matthew,
and he says to him, "Follow me."
And standing up he followed him.

And it happened that he was dining in his home,
and look, many tax collectors and sinners coming
dined with Jesus and his disciples.
And the Pharisees seeing said to his disciples,
"Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

And hearing he said,
"The strong have no need of a physician, but the ill.
Go learn what it is: 'I wish mercy and not sacrifice;'
for I did not come to call the just, but sinners."
Matthew 9:9-13

And after this he went out,
and he saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office,
and he said to him, "Follow me."
And leaving behind everything, standing up he followed him.

And Levi made a great banquet for him in his home;
and there was a large crowd of tax collectors
and others who were dining with them.
And the Pharisees and their scholars
complained to his disciples saying,
"Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"

And Jesus answering said to them,
"The healthy have no need of a physician, but the ill;
I have not come to call the just, but sinners to repentance."
Luke 5:27-32

And John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting.
And they come and say to him,
"Why do John's disciples and the Pharisees' disciples fast,
but your disciples do not fast?"

And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding attendants fast,
while the bridegroom is with them?
As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
But days will come
when the bridegroom may be taken away from them,
and then they will fast on that day.

"No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment;
otherwise, the new takes fullness from the old,
and a worse tear occurs.

"And no one puts new wine into old wineskins;
otherwise, the wine will burst the skins,
and the wine is ruined, and the skins.
But new wine is for fresh skins."
Mark 2:18-22

Then John's disciples approached him
saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast,
but your disciples do not fast?"

And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding attendants mourn,
as long as the bridegroom is with them?
But days will come when the bridegroom
may be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

"No one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment;
for it takes the fullness from the garment,
and a worse tear occurs.

"Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins;
otherwise, the skins burst,
and the wine spills and the skins are ruined.
But they put new wine into fresh skins, and both are preserved."
Matthew 9:14-17

And they said to him, "John's disciples fast often
and make prayers, and so do those of the Pharisees,
but yours eat and drink.

And Jesus said to them, "While the bridegroom is with them,
can one make the wedding attendants fast?
But days will come
when the bridegroom may be taken away from them,
and then they will fast in those days."

And he also told a parable to them:
"No one tearing a patch from a new garment
puts it on an old garment;
otherwise, both the new will be torn
and the patch from the new will not match with the old.

"And no one puts new wine into old wineskins;
otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins,
and it will be spilled, and the skins will be ruined.
But new wine must be put into fresh skins.
And no one having drunk the old wants the new;
for one says, 'The old is good.'"
Luke 5:33-39

They said to him, "Come, let us pray today and fast."

Jesus said, "What sin, then, have I committed,
or in what have I been overcome?
But when the bridegroom comes out of the bride-chamber,
then let them fast and pray."
Thomas 104

Jesus said, "It is impossible for a person
to mount two horses and to stretch two bows,
and it is impossible for a servant to serve two masters;
otherwise one will honor one and offend the other.

"No one drinks old wine
and immediately desires to drink new wine.
And new wine is not put into old skins lest they burst;
and old wine is not put into a new skin, lest it spoil it.

"An old patch is not sewn on a new garment,
since it would tear."
Thomas 47
